Scientific Series – Game Development

Come and visit our twin events where you can learn how to create computer games. Interactive talks will be given by Lukas Knoch and Alexander Kopper. Bring your laptops and gain some hands-on experience by following the step-by-step tutorials included in the talks.

In order to get your laptops prepared for following the talk, please install some required software by using this GUIDE.

The second talk is about game development in Unity3D. [Link to Facebook Event]

WHEN: 15 April, 17:00

WHERE: Hörsaal A

Please install the free version of Unity3D before coming.

As usual, some snack and drinks will be provided by the Student Branch. We hope to see you all.

Don’t forget to register for the 2nd Game Jam where you can make great use of your fresh knowledge about computer games.

GoProfessional – Coworking und die moderne Arbeitswelt

Our next event in the summer semester will be a talk about Coworking​ in frame of our GoProfessional series. Two coworkers will introduce you to this modern work style and the advantages over the traditional concepts. They will also share their own experience and tell you about all the details you need to know in case you want to start your first job as a coworker. Of course, you can ask them questions after the talk in a relaxed environment while having some drinks and snacks.

Semester Opening Game Night

Dear Students and Colleagues,

the IEEE Student Branch Klagenfurt is opening the summer semester of 2015 with an exciting Game Night. Participants can play with modern game consoles such as Xbox Kinect, Playstation, and Wii, and a retro corner will also be set up with Commodore 64, Pentium I, and other historical devices. As usual, some beer and pizza will be provided. Furthermore, gamers can challenge their opponents in frame of a quiz and win some valuable prizes.

Date: 18:00 on 16th March, 2015
Location: Lakeside Labs (Lakeside Park B04b, 1st floor)

Join the “Academic Skiing and Winter Adventure-Day”

Today we point out an activity which is not organized by the Students Branch. But we like it and we think it is a really good deal to participate event though it is not technical at all.

That Skiing Day is jointly organized by the USI and the FH-Kärnten Sport and involves all students and employees of Carinthian University and Universities of Applied Sciences in Carinthia. You can find english information here. Note that online registration needs to be done until tomorrow (8th of Jannuary) and the € 10.- participation fee includes a small meal with some drinks, the ride on a joint bus and the day ticket for ski lifts.

The skiing resort is not very big and offers slopes for all levels. Check their webpage and the overview.
In case you need equipment it is possible to contact the local skiing school. Their website is quite simple. You can find prices for rents (the full equipment with skis, boots, sticks and helmet costs around €40.- i.e. equal a usuall full day lift ticket).

We think it is a nice oppurtunity to have a nice day together.
