The openSUSE Release-Party

Yes! It is the Linux distribution with the chameleon in the logo – I think many of you came across with that the one or another time.

Resently a member of the voluntary community, dedicated to the development and distirbution of this operating system, who is a PhD-candidate at our university gave a presentation on that software. That it is what is called a release party.
Ilias Athanasios, who was the presenter this evening, also gave away enormous numbers of free DVD’s containing the software. Each of the participants this evening could take one for him and even for some of his friends.

Beside an overview on the most important features it was given insight on the community and its work. The community is as open for volunteers as the software for useres. The recent conference is in April in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
After the talk a lively discussion emerged about pro´s and con´s of Linux generally and specific distributions in particular. Obviously there where some Linux users in the audiance.

Further you can find some photos und the slides of the talk.
